Meltie

Brain rot, doomscrolling and screen time

People search these words when the feed ate the evening. They are not the same thing. Meltie uses all of them in the text, and none of them as the app name.

Brain rot

Slang for the fog after too much low-effort content. Oxford tracked it as a word of the year. It is not a medical term. Meltie never claims to treat an illness. The picture is a brain that looks more melted the longer you stayed in the apps you chose.

Doomscrolling

Classically: staying in a news or social feed, often bad news, past the point of rest. In search, people also type doomscrolling when they mean TikTok or Reels. Product copy can say scrolling and shorts; the store still needs the doomscrolling query.

Shorts, reels, mindless scrolling

Short-form video is a different gesture than reading headlines. Android and iOS still count time per app, not “only Shorts inside YouTube.” A honest screen time toy adds YouTube + TikTok + Instagram minutes. It does not promise to split Shorts from a 40-minute video.

Screen time, procrastination, cute

Screen time is the category. Procrastination is why someone opens the toy at midnight. Cute is why they screenshot the brain. Meltie is built for that loop: free, a bit ashamed, not a lecture, not a lock on other apps.
